After defeating the German outfit on Tuesday, the Flying Eagles handler felt nothing but pride for his side ahead of their clash with Nurnberg U23

Manu praises boys for Hoffenheim U23 defeat

Coach Manu Garba paid tribute to the performances of his Nigeria U20 side after downing Hoffenheim U23 5-2 in the friendly played on Tuesday afternoon.
A treble from Taiwo Awoniyi plus strikes from Chiderah Ezeh and Godwin Saviour ensured the reigning African youth champions a comprehensive win against the German fifth division outfit as they perfect strategies for the Fifa U20 World Cup.
The Flying Eagles though conceded two cheap goals but the coach was pleased with what he saw from his team.
“We started the game slowly, but we later picked up to play our normal game,” said Manu after the thrilling encounter, Garba told the NFF website.
“It was a good outing overall and I will score us about 70%.
“But again we need to work on our defence by taking on more defensive responsibilities and our finishing has to be better as we lost several chances.
“All the same, we should also praise the Hoffenheim team, they are a team of professional players and they took the game to us very early on,” he concluded.
The Flying Eagles will play the Nurnberg U23s on Friday before their final warm-up match against Freiburg U23 team on May 19
