Swansea City stand firm over Bony’s €38m valuation as Man City talks continue

The Premier League champions are reluctant to pay over €31m for the Ivorian, but Garry Monk maintains the striker will not be sold for a cut-price fee

Swansea City manager Garry Monk insists the club will stand firm over €38 million valuation of Wilfried Bony as Manchester City continue negotiations for the striker.

Earlier this week, Goal reported that City are reluctant to pay more than €31m for the Cote d'Ivoire international, but the Premier League champions are close to agreeing a €95,000-a-week contract with the 26-year-old.

Monk has confirmed talks between the two clubs are ongoing but maintains Bony, who has scored nine goals in 20 Premier League appearances this season, will not be allowed to leave for a cut-price fee.

“There are talks between clubs and at this moment in time it’s ongoing. It is what it is right now. But unless an agreement is made and club are happy, it remains ongoing,” said the Swansea manager.

“I don’t know the inner details. They have talked about fees but whether they are close or far apart is unclear at moment.

“But whatever happens it is important it reaches the valuation Swansea hold. Clubs will have to meet a valuation not just for Bony but for any player.”
